The Pangea Gecko Diet: Growth & Breeding Formula™ is a complete diet that is designed to fulfill the unique requirements of growth and breeding for crested geckos and is fortified with extra proteins while maintaining an appealing taste for geckos.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • High protein and fat content from insect sources
  • High-fat content to promote great breeding results
  • Maximum calcium levels
  • Great feeding response
  • Good for gaining weight
  • Excellent for breeders and geckos of all life stages

Pangea Gecko Diet: Growth & Breeding Formula™ was designed to be a healthy array of ingredients that provides essential nutrients for breeding adults but is also excellent for geckos of all life stages. Crested geckos still benefit from once or twice-a-week cricket feeding. Other species, such as the New Caledonian giant gecko (Rhacodactylus leachianus), gargoyle geckos (R. auriculatus), and chameleon geckos (Eurydactylodes spp.), also excel on this formula from the get-go. Additionally, Growth & Breeding Formula™ has been revolutionary for species that require higher levels of calcium and insects such as mossy prehensile-tailed gecko (Mniarogekko chahoua).

The main source of fat and protein in our Growth & Breeding Formula™ is crickets and black soldier fly larvae. The fruits used are a delicious blend of bananas and apricots that creates an excellent feeding response like our other formulas. The higher fat levels help keep egg production strong throughout the breeding season.

The calcium level is near the maximum level for a complete gecko diet. It is safe and sometimes necessary to add a little calcium to the food if your females are becoming calcium depleted. Alternatively, you can offer plain calcium in a dish for your females to lick from as needed. For more information on calcium please see our article here.

To get the most out of this diet, fresh food should be offered at least every other day during the breeding season even though there will be some waste. Smaller and more frequent feedings are healthier for breeders than large-sparse feedings, on which they tend to gorge themselves. Live dusted insects are optional but can be offered once or twice a week in place of Pangea Gecko Diet: Growth & Breeding Formula™ for variety and to help keep your geckos active and stimulated.

DIRECTIONS:

Mix 1 part powder with 2.5 parts water and adjust to achieve desired consistency. Prepared mix is good for up to 7 days if refrigerated. Open dry mix is good for 6 months at room temperature or 1 year if refrigerated. Unopened diet is best before 12 months (see expiration date). Occasional insect feedings are recommended but are optional.

LIFE STAGES:

  • Growth: Feed 3-4 times per week alternating with insect feedings
  • Breeding: Feed at least 4-5 days per week with additional insect feedings

NOTES:

  • This mix tends to stick to tails and toes if your gecko crawls through the mixture. This can be resolved easily with a rinse or sauna.
  • Most geckos are not going to clean their bowl every time as they may with the lower fat content formulas.
  • This diet has a shorter expiration date to ensure maximum protein and vitamin levels.
